Closed enrollment, what can you do?
Now that open enrollment is now closed you still have options for Indiana health insurance. First, if you have qualifying life event you may be entitled for special enrollment. A qualifying life event would be like having a baby, getting married, or losing minimal essential coverage. Second, you can purchase a short term medical plan to cover you through 2016 until open enrollment begins for 2017. It is important to note that short term plans do not comply with the Affordable Care Act and you can be penalized for not having compliant coverage. Either way you need guidance, please drop us an email or call the office (317) 842-2210 so we can help with you questions and concerns.

Indiana Health Insurance Marketplace (Exchange), What Does it Mean?
As I’m sure most are aware the new Federally Facilitated Marketplace (exchange) was introduce to the Indiana health insurance marketplace on October 1, 2013. The Affordability Care Act (ACA) mandates that you purchase health insurance that complies with the new Affordable Care Act. The open enrollment period for 2015 coverage is November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015. If you choose to be uninsured in 2015 you will received a tax penalty that is 2% of your household income or $325 per person. If you’re uninsured for just part of the year, 1/12 of the yearly penalty applies to each month you’re uninsured. If you’re uninsured for less than 3 months, you don’t have to make a payment.
There are 5 different plan options available in the new Indiana health insurance marketplace; Catastrophic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum plans. IIG will help you apply for coverage as well as facilitate a Federal subsidy if you are within 400% of the Federal poverty level.
This law will transform the future of your health coverage and you need an expert like the Indiana Insurance Group to help. We understand this is a complicated process but IIG is happy to help with your questions and concerns.
